Take "The Ride"

This week, eight high school quarterbacks are taking off on “The Ride” of a lifetime, as they will compete against one another for a chance at participating in the country’s top showcase for high school football players—the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.

“The Ride,” which will air on Comcast Sports Net and Fox Sports Net affiliates across the United States starting this week (some as early as today), will chronicle the competition held between the eight prep signal-callers. Each player, for his own individual reason, has continued to fly under the radar of upper-echelon Division I programs, and will look to prove his mettle in front of a national audience.

“The show really is a unique concept in terms of taking an under the radar quarterback and giving him the chance to get elite, NFL caliber training through Football University,” said Kristian Dyer, Director of Media Relations at SportsLink, a sports marketing firm who partnered with Aurora Imaging to create the show. “What ‘The Ride’ does is a bold concept in prep football. It is one of a kind television.”

The journey for these quarterbacks—C.J. Bennett (Tampa, Fla.), Cody Fajaro (Anaheim, Calif.), Will Fiacchi (Marcellus, N.Y.), Collin Jones (Oceanside, Calif.), Cole Marcoux (Bronx, N.Y.), Hutson Mason (Marietta, Ga.), Marcus McDade (Stockton, Calif.), Malik Stokes (Philadelphia, Pa.)—started at Football University Philadelphia, where they performed in front of their coaches/judges in a mini-camp-like setting. After four eliminations, the remaining quarterbacks moved on to FBU Top Gun, a national showcase for the nation’s top prep football talent. Three currently remain, and will play through their regular seasons before another is removed. Two then go on to the Aloha Prep Bowl in Hawaii, where one will claim the title of U.S. Army All-American.

“The show is compelling and gritty. ‘The Ride’ is the type of television that appeals to a wide range of viewers. Watching these young men mature and develop under the instruction of NFL coaches and players, with the goal of playing on the national stage, is something that can’t be missed,” Dyer said. “Throw the popcorn in the microwave and set your TiVo, ‘The Ride’ is going to be a hit. Check your listings.”

One particularly unique feature is the collection of coaches taking part in the process. Among these instructors are former NFL MVP and current Monday Night Football analyst Ron Jaworski; two-time Super Bowl champion Mike Kruczek; Tom Martinez, the personal tutor to Tom Brady; Larry Kennan, mentor of the likes of Eli Manning and Matt Ryan; and others.

“The Ride” will air on Fox Sports Net affiliates and Comcast Sports affiliates nationally.

I checked out the trailer on http://TakeTheRide.TV and this looks pretty intense. "The Ride" almost reminds me of NFL Films.
