Defeat the Cincinatti Bengals. Check. Defeat the San Diego Chargers. Check. Lose to the Indianapolis Colts. Check. Gain a ton of experience. Priceless. It's really hard to be disappointed with the New York Jets losing to the Future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, his golden arm and an amazing Colts team. At first, it was getting to be the same old Jets after halftime, but when the final whistle blew and the scoreboard read 30-17 in favor of the Colts, a wave of happiness hit me. Many fans knew the Jets had no chance against the Colts, but to see them stand toe for toe and to watch Mark Sanchez go throw for throw with Manning was simply amazing. A team led by a rookie head coach in Rex Ryan continued it's dominant pace through the post season and the first half of this game. Than again, it's hard to hold down a complete receiving unit with one Pro Bowl corner back in Darrelle Revis and a bunch of mediocre and second stringers in Lito Sheppard, Dwight Lowery and Drew Coleman. Donald Strickland did well covering Lowery's mistakes in the 1st until he himself left the game with an injury. Edge went totally to the Colts from there on in. Shonn “The Beast” Greene left with a rib injury and we all knew it was down hill from there. They gave the ball to Thomas Jones a lot this game but it seems he is scared to make a play, instead lowering his head and diving for the floor or running into a defender. Yeah Thomas, you are supposed to go for the outside and get away from a defender, not make a bee line for him. But the experience is what counts here. The New York Jets just lost a hard fought battle against an amazing team in the AFC Championship. They were one game away from the Super Bowl. How can you not be proud of this team and the effort they gave all season long? Come next season, if the Jets go out and get a pass rusher they desperately need and a corner back to compliment Revis, only magical things can happen with this squad. The swagger and confidence is now a part of Gang Green thanks to Coach Ryan. All they need to do now is perform just like this year and go all the way next time. Thank you Rex Ryan for being true to who you are. Thank you Mike Tannenbaum for building one hell of a team. Thank you Sanchez, Revis, Keller, Greene, and company for being what the Jets fans need, a breathe of fresh air that this team has been missing for years.
