Maybe there was something to the New York Jets - Terrel Owens talks earlier this week, because barring a failed physical, the team is expected to sign former wide receiver Laveranues Coles.

Coles, who caught 43 passes for 514 yards last season for the Cincinnati Bengals, will be starting his third tour of duty with the Jets and has spent seven of his 10 years in the league for them, accumulating 459 receptions with 5,941 receiving yards and 37 touchdowns in his time with the team. He ranks fourth in receptions,  fifth in yards and is tied for fifth in TD's in the New York franchise annals.

Originally selected by the New York Jets in the third round of the 2000 draft, the  Florida State  product has  totaled 674  catches for  8,609 yards  and 49  touchdowns for the Jets, Redskins and Bengals.

Coles, of course, provides even more depth to a wide receiving corp that will be without Santonio Holmes for the first four games of the season.
