Oh those New With all of the mistakes they have already made, like buying out Nelson Doubleday (talk about a black day in Mets history), now they are lowering the wall in centerfield. Why? Well, because players like the almighty David Wright cannot seem to hit home runs. I mean it is only a measly eight feet. It was 16 feet high. Yet I just cannot seem to think that is eight feet that will not keep the opposing hitters from swinging for the fences now. Apparently the Mets did not get the memo that opponents had no problem hitting home runs at Citi Field. It was just the Mets. So while they are trying to make it more hitter friendly for their own players, they are making it even more friendly for the opposing hitters. So they'll be removing the second layer of padding. Yes I am well aware no other areas are being altered except what is directly in front of the home run apple. Yes it is still quite a distance from home plate to hit a ball nonetheles. Answer me this: How does lowering a wall improve a hitter's ability to hit home runs at home when they could not hit home runs on the road either? That has always been my question to which no one can seem to answer. I'll answer it for you. It does not. You have to help the hitter to actually hit the ball. They need strength training and to be more focused. The Mets as a team, never mind just Wright, did not hit many home runs last year, at home or away. They were dead last in the league. So instead of working with the hitters, which I am sure they are doing the best they can, they lower the walls. Well, let's just put a sign there that says, "Aim here". Apparently I have been among the few that do not want the walls touched at all. So if this is what they were going to do, why sign Jason Bay? The money could have gone to a pitcher then. The whole point of Bay was for power, right? So if you have power again, why make adjustments? Once again the Mets have shown just how low their IQ's are. So sad! Anybody for Doubleday to make a comeback to ownership say "I" . "I"
