According to Ken Rosenthal, the New York Mets are making a hard push to sign free agent catcher Rod Barajas. The Mets offered a low-dollar, minor league deal, tweets Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated. This goes to prove that the organization is no where near comfortable with Omir Santos or rookie Josh Thole being their everyday starter. The team signed Henry Blanco as soon as free agency began but they see him as the back-up and do not believe he can handle being hte starter. If the team does indeed sign Barajas it will give the Mets probably the best defensive catching duo in the league.
Should the Mets sign Rod Barajas? Or would you rather see Omir Santos and Josh Thole compete for the starting job? Vote on it and discuss it at the MVP Gotham Fan Forum by clicking here: Should the Mets sign Rod Barajas?
