At this point, should that come as a surprise? Just over 24 hours after a stunning win over the Celtics, the Nets collapsed and lost, 89-85, to the lowly (but not as lowly as the Nets) Wizards Sunday night at the Meadowlands, blowing a 14-point lead and a chance to win two straight games for the first time this season. Blatche scored a career-high 36 points and grabbed 15 rebounds to help the Wizards (21-36) avoid the same humiliation the Celtics, Knicks, Clippers and Bobcats (twice) have felt this season. The Nets fell to 6-53 and are still on pace to tie the all-time mark for fewest wins in a season, nine by the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers. They have to win four of their final 23 games to avoid that record.
