*The Washington Capitals feel they are one good, physical, stay at home defense man away from making a run at the cup. They have been talking with the Islanders about acquiring Andy Sutton or Brendan Witt. They have also been in contact with Montreal about Hal Gill.

*The Flyers are looking, yes again, for goal tending as Ray Emery's injury maybe worse than first thought. There are not many quality goalies out there but they have talked to the Islanders about Dwayne Roloson, but the Isles would much rather move Martin Biron.

*Jaromir Jagr looking to come back to the NHL? To the Rangers? Well, yes and no. Jagr has been telling people at the Olympics he would like one final run in the NHL. He has also said he is not interested in playing for John Tortorella, but he would very much like playing once again for Tom Renney and he wouldn't mind playing for the Oilers. Mario Lemieux has made it known he would like to discuss a finalrun with the Penguins for Jaromir.

*The Rangers are going to be buyers at the deadline. It is believed by many in the NHL that Sather will pull the trigger on a deal for Sheldon Souray. To make this possible Sather will have to deal Rozsival or waive Wade Redden and send him to Hartford.

*The Columbus Blue jackets are looking to be sellers at the deadline. Three players that have garnered some interest include Raffi Torres, Fredrik Modin, and Milan Jurcina.

*Illya Kovalchuk has told people around the Olympics so far he enjoys New Jersey and would consider resigning with them. It is also rumored his high contract demands made to Atlanta were made simply to force the Thrashers to trade him.

*The Florida Panthers are looking to make some changes and will be active as sellers at the deadline. Many feel Nathan Horton will be traded but his work ethic and poor attitude have kept clubs from making serious offers for the moody Panthers forward.

*The Blues will be looking to move Keith Tkachuck, Paul Kariya, and Carlo Colaiacovo. The Penguins have high interest in Kariya while many feel the Bruins and Rangers will make an offer for Tkachuk.

*The Calgary Flames, since their trade with the maple Leafs, have a large selection of players on their roster. It is believed that a few Flames forwards will be moved for prospects and future draft picks.

In my last rumor report I said Matt Cullen would be traded by the Hurricanes. He was traded to the Senators last week. Ray Whitney is also rumored to be moved. Trust me, he WILL be traded. The LA Kings are believed to have a deal in place for Whitney but were unable to pull it off prior to the Olympic roster freeze.

Panthers have a hard time scoring goals, they are not going to trade one of their top goal scorers. Look for them to trade top shot blocker Dennis Seidenberg or mobile defenseman Jordan Leopold both will be UFAs. Seidenberg possibly to the Capitals.
