1. Ray Whitney- Considered the 2nd best offensive forward available for this upcoming trade deadline, he can provide scoring and a big role on a 1st or 2nd line. He has a no-trade clause but is willing to waive it, but if traded wants the team to re-sign him to a 2-3 year deal. teams interested: Pittsburgh, Montreal, L.A., Washington, Boston, Vancouver and Nashville.
2. Sheldon Souray- Best offensive-minded defenseman on the trade block so far, but many teams cant get his hands on him due to his expensive salary. teams interested: Dallas, Vancouver, Phoenix, and New York Rangers.
3. Alexei Ponikarovsky- A good scoring winger and could be a good pick up by a playoff club for a good run & could play a roll on a 1st or 2nd line. teams interested: Nashville, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Phoenix, Washington, and Colorado.
4. Paul Kariya- A good veteran who still has some upside in his game and can bring playoff experience to a playoff team who wants to acquire him. teams interested: Boston, Montreal, Pittsburgh, New York Rangers, Vancouver & Buffalo.
5. Peter Mueller- Has struggled this sophomore season, but had a good rookie season last year, and he is a soon rising star. Top team interested: Toronto
6. Lubomir Visnovsky- Besides Souray another good offensive defenseman thats on the market, but hard for teams to pick him up with his salary. teams interested: Ottawa
7. Slava Kozlov- An extremely good playoff asset and could provide playmaking skills and a scoring punch. teams interested: Detroit, Montreal, Florida, and L.A.
8. Shawn Horcoff- A good 2-way player & will be hard for teams to acquire him with his salary.- top team interested: Florida
9. Scott Walker- Had schoulder surgery at the beginning of the season and is close to returning and he could be dealt by the deadline, and he brings a solid 2-way game. teams interested: Colorado, Boston & San Jose
10. Jack Johnson- L.A. has a good young asset they can move to acquire a good forward for a playoff run, and if they find the right forward he could be moved. Top team interested: Atlanta
11. Marty Turco- Time seems to becoming to an end for Marty with the Stars, after the Starts acquired young goalie Kari Lehtonen, and don't be surprised if hes with a new team after the deadline on March. 3rd. Top team interested: Philadelphia Flyers
12. Rostislav Olesz- The Panthers reportedly have been shopping Olesz for the majority of the season, and he could bring a team a good 2-way game, and when he crashed to the net, he can get those important goals. No teams interested right now.
13. Ethan Moreau- His style of play is best suited for a playoff contender, but if the Oilers deal him its for salary dump, and the rebuilding process. Teams interested: Leafs- not a playoff team, New Jersey, Vancouver, & Buffalo
14. Steve Ott- Is in the final year of his contract, and is a solid 2-way player and a tough guy, and surprisingly he can score as he tallied a 20 goal season last year, and if Dallas cant come to terms with him, don't be surprised if hes moved by March.3rd. No teams interested right now, but heard the Leafs have shown some interest.
15. Marek Svatos- Avalanche ar trying to move him to make room for an addition elsewhere., and Colorado want to make the playoffs this year, and by moving Svatos and his salary, they can acquire a good defenseman or forward. teams interested: Minnesota, Boston, and Toronto.
16. Michael Ryder- He hasn't lived up to his expectatons this season with Boston with his big salary, and Boston is shopping him around. Teams inerested: Nashville, & Vancouver
17. Joe Corvo- A solid veteran with some playoff experience , and could help a playoff contender. Top team interested: Phoenix
18. John-Michael Liles- Another player shopped by Colorado for majority of the season to relieve cap space for a big trade for a playoff run. No teams interested right now.
19. Colby Armstrong- Thrashers are disappointed with his play this season, and is on pace for only 26 points. teams interested: Pittsburgh & Toronto
20. Raffi Torres- Is in the final year of his contract and re-negotiating doesn't seem like its going well, so don't be surprised if hes moved at the deadline. Teams interested: Washington, Vancouver & Buffalo
21. Martin Biron- With the return of Rick Di Pietro, the Islanders now have 3 goalies with one way contracts, and if they had to choose between Roloson & Biron to be traded, it will be Biron because Roloson has been playing better. teams interested: Various Long Island roller hockey teams.
5 Could Be/ Probably Won't Be Traded:
1. Vincent Lecavalier- keep a close eye on him, Lighting GM Brian Lawton stated that he will not trade him but you never know, look what happened on the Phaneuf deal, and he could have a change of heart, and its his word. Teams interested: Montreal & New York Rangers
2. Scott Niedermayer- Has a no trade clause but if the Ducks fall even further, they'll ask him if he wants to be moved, and could go to a playoff contender. He brings plenty of offensive talent. Teams interested: New Jersey & Vancouver
3. Jaroslav Halak- Probably will stay with Montreal if a playoff run is possible, but if Montreal recieves an offer they cant refuse than they will trade him. Teams interested: Flyers
4. Barret Jackman- Has a no-trade clause, but if the right offer comes along they could move him. Teams interested: Washington, Phoenix & New Jersey
5. Brandon Dubinsky: I am hearing a lot of whispers that the Rangers are willing to move Dubinsky if a team will take either Wade Redden or Michal Roszival. teams interested: Washington, Ottawa, Edmonton, Los Angeles, Colorado
